Things I Like: The Float Frame by Artifact Uprising

I haven’t spent a ton of time at home lately.

With such a busy schedule, I’m constantly hopping between other people’s homes, which, in turn, has led me to hold dear my own home more than ever.

For me, a lot of the feel-good vibes that home gives me come from my art, my plants, and my family. So when I found myself with an unexpected day off this week, the first thing I did was hang-up two new art pieces from Artifact Uprising that had been beckoning me for weeks since I received them in the mail.

Previously, I featured Artifact Uprising’s lay-flat hardcover photo book, and today, I’m sharing the inside scoop and an up-close look at my newest infatuation: their  float frame.

While matting and chunky, moulded frames have their place, I’m much more of a simple, understated, and/or frameless gal when it comes to hanging art — as an illustrator and designer, I simply prefer keeping the art as the focus.

Not only does AU’s new float frame fit my light and airy modus operandi, but they handle the printing, centering, and securing of your uploaded artwork onto the acrylic frame, so all you have to do when you receive it in the mail is find a spot to hang it. That, I can get behind.

I ordered two 24″ x 30″ prints: a photo of Piper as a puppy that I took on my iPhone (as shown in the shots you’ve glanced so far in this post), and a graphic art print I created myself (which you can purchase here, shown below). I hung the Piper print on the small section of wall that defines the start of my kitchen from the living room and hallway, and I ended up resting the “Be Nice” piece atop my IKEA entertainment unit rather than bolt it into the wall.

I was nervous that the iPhone photo wouldn’t turn out resolution-wise, but true to their promise, AU did a bang-up job. The print quality is stunning, and the premium archival paper is crisp and prints true-to-colour.

One of my favorite aspects of the frames is the brass detailing that delivers on form and function. The frames are to be secured on your wall using four anchors and screws (provided) which get hidden by the brass bolts.

I love that the frames are both understated and statement-worthy at the same time. It’s also available in five sizes with your choice of format: be it square, portrait, or landscape. Because it’s so neutral and simple, it would make the perfect gift for any body, for any occasion, and look great in any home.

As is alway the case whenever I get anything from Artifact Uprising, the quality is knock-out and I am so happy with them. Also, I’ve officially run out of wall space in my home. There’s literally no wall or nook that isn’t crammed with art or plants. And that’s exactly the way I like it 🙂
